Autumn Clock Change 2026: When Do Clocks Fall Back in the U.S.?
In most of the U.S., clocks fall back Sunday, November 1, 2026, at 2 a.m. local time. See the exact change, exceptions, and a practical checklist.
The Amazon Prime refund rules changed in September 2026. A revised federal court order expands the group eligible for automatic payments and raises the maximum total payment from $51 to $200. The next newly eligible group—customers who used 11 to 20 Prime benefits in a 12-month period—is scheduled to begin receiving payments on October 1, 2026. No new claim form is required for these future payments.
That does not mean every Prime member gets $200, or that a payment is guaranteed to arrive on a particular day. Eligibility depends on how the subscription was started or an unsuccessful cancellation, the customer’s U.S. Prime history and use of benefits. The FTC says Amazon had issued more than $845 million in refunds by September 2026 and will continue automatic payments through April 2027. This guide reflects the FTC’s refund page and September 14, 2026 court order as of September 27, 2026.

Under the revised order, the general eligibility test has three parts. A person must:
The FTC identifies the challenged enrollment paths as the universal Prime decision page, shipping selection page, single-page checkout, and Prime Video enrollment flow. Prime benefits can include Prime Video or Prime Music products made available to members. The FTC’s public page does not ask consumers to identify which screen they used; Amazon checks its records to determine who may qualify.
Someone who signed up intentionally may still fall within the cancellation part of the test if they tried to cancel online and could not complete the process or inadvertently accepted a save offer during cancellation. Conversely, merely having had Prime during the date range is not enough on its own. If your memory is uncertain, review old Amazon emails or account history, then ask the settlement administrator how to check your status; do not guess at the enrollment flow.
| Group described by the order | What the September 2026 update says | Practical next step |
|---|---|---|
| Customers who used no more than 3 Prime benefits in a 12-month period | These customers were in the first automatic-payment phase, which began in November 2025. | Check for a prior PayPal, Venmo, or mailed-check payment and whether it was accepted. |
| Customers who used no more than 10 benefits and met the original claim-process rules | The original claim deadline was July 27, 2026. Under the revised order, by August 30 the administrator began issuing payments to identified eligible customers who submitted approved or invalid forms—or no form—if they had not already been paid and were not subject to a holdback. | If you missed the old deadline, do not assume that alone rules you out; verify directly with the administrator. |
| Customers who used 11 to 20 benefits in a 12-month period | Automatic payments are scheduled to start October 1, 2026. The revised order excludes customers who have already been issued a settlement payment from this group. | Watch for an official payment notice; no new claim or form is required for this phase. |
These descriptions are summaries, not a way to determine your status by counting benefits yourself. The applicable 12-month period and enrollment or cancellation records matter. The settlement provides up to $1.5 billion in consumer redress and a separate $1 billion civil penalty. These are different parts of the $2.5 billion settlement; the total is not a pot divided equally among all Prime members. The FTC says the refund is based on Prime membership fees and that $200 is the maximum total per eligible consumer under the revised order.
The initial payment phases had a $51 cap. The revised order allows a further payment of up to $149, potentially bringing an eligible person’s total to $200. However, that later payment depends on how much consumers have accepted from the fund: the court order provides for pro-rata payments if accepted payments remain below the specified $1 billion threshold. Therefore, $200 is a ceiling, not a promised flat payment. Do not budget on receiving the maximum; use the amount on an official payment notice as the amount actually offered.
The FTC lists mailed checks and electronic payments through PayPal or Venmo. The administrator sends the payment based on information in Amazon’s records. A payment can require acceptance: an electronic payment may need to be accepted through the payment service, and a check must be deposited or cashed. The FTC says payments expire 60 days after issuance, so act promptly and follow the deadline printed on the notice. The revised court order also sets at least 60 days for the newly scheduled and any pro-rata payments.
Previously issued payments have a specific transition rule. The September court order says payments issued before June 25, 2026, that were still unaccepted on September 15, 2026, were voided and do not have to be reissued. If you believe you had such a payment, contact the administrator and ask whether it can be replaced; do not assume it remains payable.
That deadline applied to the earlier claims process. The revised order directed the administrator to begin paying certain identified, potentially eligible consumers even if they submitted no claim or submitted an invalid claim, provided they had not already received a payment and were not subject to a holdback. It does not create an open-ended new claims window or guarantee that every late claimant is in Amazon’s records. Check with the administrator instead of filing a form found through an ad or search result.
No. The amount is tied to Prime fees and capped at $200 across the settlement phases. Any later distribution is conditional and may be pro-rated. Treat the maximum as a limit, not a standard award. Keep the notice and confirm the actual amount and acceptance deadline.
Not necessarily. The new 11-to-20-benefit phase is scheduled to begin October 1, and the FTC says automatic refunds may continue through April 2027. Timing depends on the payment batch and delivery method. Check the email address connected with your Amazon account, spam folder, Venmo or PayPal activity, and the mailing address on file; then contact the administrator if the expected payment does not appear.
The FTC says it is not contacting people about refunds in this matter. No one from Amazon should ask you to pay a fee to release a refund. Treat requests for gift cards, cryptocurrency, account passwords, one-time security codes, or an upfront charge as warning signs. Do not reply or click a suspicious link; report suspected fraud through ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
The administrator’s site is SubscriptionMembershipSettlement.com. The FTC warns that its domain does not include “Amazon” or “refund,” so navigate from the FTC page if you want to confirm you have the right address. Eligibility and payment timing ultimately depend on the settlement order and Amazon’s records; if those records do not identify you, the FTC’s public materials do not promise another claim route.
