How to Get a Microsoft Teams Meeting Link and Share It

To get a Microsoft Teams meeting link, open Calendar, select the meeting, and choose Share > Copy join link. If you are already in the meeting, use People > Share invite to copy its link. You can also find the joining link in the original invitation.

The exact controls depend on whether you use a work or school account or Teams Free for personal use. Follow the matching method below; you do not need to start a scheduled meeting just to retrieve its link.

Copy a scheduled meeting link on desktop or web

  1. Open Calendar in Teams and select the scheduled meeting to open its details.

Select the meeting you want to share from Calendar.
  1. At the top of the event, choose Share > Copy join link, then paste the copied link into your message or email.

If you are creating the meeting, turn on the Teams meeting toggle and save the event first. An ordinary calendar appointment without online meeting details will not provide a Teams join link. See Microsoft’s meeting scheduling instructions.

Get the link while a meeting is in progress

  1. In the desktop meeting window, select People to open the participants pane.

Open People to reach the invitation controls during a meeting.
  1. Select Share invite and use the meeting-link copy option, then paste it where you want to invite someone.

Use the link-sharing option under Share invite.

Closing the initial invitation prompt does not permanently remove access to the link. Microsoft documents returning to People > Share invite later in the meeting.

Need a new link instead? For work or school accounts with the option available, open Calendar > Meet now and select Get a link to share. Calendar’s Meet now option requires an Exchange Online mailbox. Details are in Microsoft’s instant meeting guide.

Copy a meeting link on your phone

For Teams Free or personal use, the mobile route is:

  1. Tap Meet and open the meeting under Scheduled.
Teams personal mobile Meet tab with Study group listed under Scheduled
Personal meetings appear under Scheduled in the Meet tab.
  1. Tap Copy meeting link to put it on your clipboard, or choose Share meeting invite to share through another app.

With a work or school account, open Calendar and tap the meeting to view its details. If your mobile version does not show a link-sharing control, copy the joining URL from the invitation email instead. You do not have to create another meeting or wait for everyone to leave.

Retrieve a Teams Free link on desktop or web

  1. Open Meet > Scheduled meetings and find your meeting. You can also locate it in Calendar.

  1. Use Share Link on the meeting card, or open the meeting and choose Copy invite to copy its invitation link.

These personal-account controls differ from the work or school calendar. The old instruction to find a universal “Meetings” tab does not apply to every current version. See Microsoft’s personal meeting instructions.

Find the link in an email or channel

If you received an invitation, open it in your email or Outlook calendar. Copy the full joining URL, or use your email app’s link-copy command on the joining hyperlink. Newer invitations may display the full address; older invitations may use text such as Join meeting now. Both lead to the meeting.

For a channel meeting, look in the relevant channel for its meeting invitation. To share outside that channel, retrieve the actual meeting join link through its calendar details or invitation. A link to a channel post may require channel access. Microsoft explains the available entry points in Microsoft’s guide to joining Teams meetings.

If the link is missing or someone cannot join

  • Wrong account: Check that you are viewing the account and organization that received the invitation.
  • No invitation: Ask the organizer to send it. Being a team member does not give you access to every private meeting.
  • Missing calendar event: Use the original invitation email. If you organize the meeting, add the person as an attendee and send the update so they receive an invitation.
  • Lobby or sign-in request: A copied link does not bypass admission settings. People without a Teams account can join only when the organizer’s settings allow it.

Share links with intended attendees. For formal scheduling, adding attendees or forwarding an invitation, when permitted, provides the calendar request as well as the link. See Microsoft’s meeting invitation guide.
